Alan Schneider has appeared as a singer in opera, operetta, and concert performances throughout the United States, with such organizations as Boston Lyric Opera, Odyssey Opera, Opera Boston, Sarasota Opera, OperaDelaware, Florida Grand Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Chautauqua Opera, the Kalamazoo, Springfield (MA), Chautauqua and Omaha Symphonies, Symphony NH, and the Bellingham (WA) Festival of Music. In July of 2010 he made his international debut as Idomeneo with IVAI in Tel Aviv, Israel.
As a stage director, he has been responsible for productions of Riders to the Sea (Vaughan Williams) and Signor Deluso (Pasatieri) at Umass/Amherst, Handel’s Acis and Galatea at Boston University, Mozart’s La finta giardiniera at The Longy School of Music, and Puccini’s La Boheme with Panopera.
A Pioneer Valley native, Alan attended the University of Massachusetts and then spent six years in Boston, earning both a Master’s and Opera Institute diploma from Boston University, before moving back. He currently resides in Northampton with his wife and son, and serves as the Assistant Technical Director of the Smith College Department of Theater.
